Abstract

Geoapplications are software tools that have been successfully applied in several business processes, including the employee attendance record, which has allowed for greater reliability and precision in the entry and exit of employees. Implementing it in higher education institutions in Ecuador (such as the IST 17 de Julio in the City of Ibarra) in attendance control has implied a series of concerns and uncertainties, hence the objective of this article is to know the impact that it has generated these applications in the confidentiality of teaching staff in universities or higher institutes. The analytical-synthetic methodology allowed us to know the characteristics and effects generated by this type of geoapplications and then infer about the influence they have on the academic body. This study determined that there is initial fear regarding confidentiality, even more so when the teacher does not know the benefits that this attendance registration procedure presents, such as: ease and speed in its use, without waiting times, as well as being precise and sure; Then comes a moment of adaptation and confidence in the system, concluding that this form of attendance control is considered much better and practical than other methods such as biometrics.
