Abstract

The interaction between research and community connection is a fundamental part of teaching students in technical health careers, such as Nursing, and it is an important step to contribute if they have contact with high-priority groups such as elderly adults. This study is based on the research project ''Primary care in elderly adults in the parish of Sayausí: Recognizing the prevalence of the most common chronic non-communicable diseases'', as research with a qualitative approach to demonstrate the experiences of students from categories such as learning exchange, patient treatment, community work, and skills. Among the main results, it is evident that students recognize the importance of the processes that integrate the substantive areas of teaching, research, and networking for developing their knowledge and skills during their academic training. Likewise, comprehensive education is promoted to develop professional skills through pre-professional practices and community service programs that will allow them to provide quality care for the individual's well-being.
