Some studies reviewed indicate that nursing care during the administration of medication through a central venous catheter is essential and that with the passage of time it has evolved to guarantee the patency of the CVC; some care is necessary, such as the use of the appropriate solution, performing the correct technique to wash and block the device, in accordance with the available protocols and guidelines, allowing the prevention of its occlusion, knowing lumen management, knowing risk medication as well as establishing institutional protocols for the correct use of the venous catheter central during medication administration. Objective: To analyze CVC nursing care during the administration of medication in critically ill patients. The methodology is qualitative, corresponding to a comparative review in which the last 5 years have been considered, under the PRISMA documentary review method. Results: Studies agree that hand washing, skin disinfection, it is revealed that there is a lack of knowledge regarding the management of lumens, as well as high-risk medication, management of heparinization, lack of knowledge in the technique and non-application of protocols .Conclusion: Among the activities related to failures during the administration of medication by CVC, the lack of adherence to institutional regulations and standardization, lack of continuous training as well as self-preparation, added to this is the continuous rotation of the medical staff. nursing, and entry of new personnel who may not be familiar with the management of critically ill patients.
