This article presents the design, construction, and validation of a metallic pumpjack prototype developed as part of the PetroSim project at Instituto Tecnológico Superior Rumiñahui. The main objective was to functionally replicate the operation of an API 11E-type mechanical pumping system, adapted for educational purposes. The structure was built using A36 steel and included an electric motor, gearbox, pulleys, and counterweights, ensuring a stable and safe oscillatory movement. Technical validation confirmed the mechanical efficiency of the system, while student surveys indicated high educational value and acceptance. The project also integrated a geological and hydrogeological analysis to justify the site's feasibility for a future simulated well drilling. The results show that such tools enhance active learning, reinforce technical competencies, and bridge
the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge in petroleum technology training.
