Challenges in the development of leadership competences in the rotating interns of the nursing career

The development of leadership skills is essential for nursing students, especially during their rotating internship period, where they face practical and emotional challenges. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to analyze the challenges in the development of leadership competencies that rotating interns in the nursing career must have. The methodology used in this research was framed in a qualitative systematic review type approach, where the PRISMA 2020 method was established as an analysis strategy with the purpose of supporting the research through the exhaustive review of studies related to the topic. The results reveal that the rotating nursing interns of the Universidad Iberoamericana del Ecuador face significant challenges in the development of their leadership competencies, such as lack of practical experience and emotional stress. In conclusion, it is crucial to implement training and support programs during the internship. rotating internship to strengthen students' leadership skills, promoting their self-confidence and decision-making capacity in high-pressure contexts.
