Burnout syndrome is a significant issue in intensive care nursing, affecting both the well-being of professionals and the quality of patient care. This study aimed to determine effective strategies for preventing burnout in this setting. A systematic literature review was conducted, analyzing risk factors, current prevention strategies, and proposing improvements based on the findings. The main risk factors identified were work overload, lack of organizational support, and prolonged exposure to critical situations. The most effective strategies included psychosocial interventions, resilience programs, and improvements in working conditions. It was concluded that a more holistic and personalized approach is necessary to address this syndrome, integrating emotional and organizational support in ICUs.
