Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is profoundly transforming various human activities by automating industrial processes and personalizing services, impacting key areas such as healthcare, education, industry, and financial services. This article examines how AI improves efficiency and performance in these sectors, addressing both its benefits and challenges. Emerging applications such as virtual assistants, autonomous vehicles, and robotics are highlighted, which not only optimize routine tasks but also open up possibilities for sustainable development, especially in growing economies such as Ecuador's. However, along with its advantages, AI poses significant ethical challenges, such as algorithmic bias and data privacy, which must be properly managed. In addition, there is a growing reliance on AI to perform tasks that previously required human intervention, which can lead to a decline in certain human skills and vulnerability in the event of technological failures. The research concludes that, with proper oversight and an ethical approach, AI can play a crucial role in the sustainable progress of society, as long as a balance is maintained between its implementation and the preservation of essential skills.
