About the Journal

1. Focus and Scope

Conectividad is a scientific multidisciplinary journal published by the Research Department of the Instituto Tecnológico Superior Universitario Rumiñahui, whose objective is to promote the publication of research articles and the free dissemination of knowledge in the Ecuadorian, regional, and Latin American contexts, related to the following areas:

  • Administrative Sciences
  • Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, and Systems
  • Educational Sciences

Frequency of publication

Conectividad is a semiannual scientific journal, with two issues published per year, available exclusively in electronic format (ISSN No. 2806-5875). Articles are published in Spanish or English, depending on the language of submission. The publication periods are January to June and July to December. Starting in 2026, Conectividad operates under a continuous publishing model. Each issue is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier System) to enhance its visibility and indexing in global search engines.

Conectividad is an open-access, free publication aimed at students, teachers, researchers, professionals, and the general public who work in development and innovation within the Journal's areas of specialization, with the aim that the published contributions can support activities in the social and productive sector, as well as the development of new research.

2. Open Access Policy

The journal Conectividad does not charge its authors any fees for article submission or processing (Article Processing Charge - APC). Its publication is open access, and the content is freely available through its website: https://revista.ister.edu.ec/ojs/index.php/ISTER

To reinforce our open access policy, Conectividad is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), which permits sharing (copying and redistributing the material in any medium or format) and adapting (remixing, transforming, and building upon the material), provided appropriate credit is given and the material is not used for commercial purposes.

3. Peer review system

All articles submitted to the Conectividad Journal that pass the first editorial review will be subject to a double-blind peer review and evaluation system by at least two external reviewers outside the Editorial Board through the OJS platform, who will independently rely on an evaluation report and will also make recommendations for the authors. In this modality, the people who evaluate do not know the authors' names of the articles and vice versa; this avoids any possible bias against or in favor of the manuscript and thus ensures the transparency of the process.

After reviewing the article, the reviewers will submit the evaluation report with one of the following results.

  • Accepted
  • Accepted with revisions
  • Rejected

The evaluation described above can take up to 4 weeks.

The editor once received the evaluation by the reviewers will analyze the results and determine if the article is accepted or denied through the OJS platform.

  • If the article is accepted, the author will be notified to make corrections if required and the corresponding editorial process will be continued.
  • If the article is denied, the author will be notified and the manuscript will be archived
  • In the two previous cases the result of the evaluation of the reviewers and their respective recommendations will be sent

The decision to reject an article is exclusively up to the editors, either due to peers' observations or non-compliance with any of the requirements established by the journal. If the author expresses his desire to reconsider his article and submit it again to the process, the editors will indicate the time that the author must wait to do so.

The OJS Institutional Repository stores all versions of scientific articles, initial, corrected, accepted, and published.

In case of controversy, the final decision is made by the Editorial Committee.

Confidentiality: Conectividad reserves the data of the authors and reviewers, as well as the results and details of the evaluation process, which will only be communicated to the relevant parties involved (authors, evaluators, and editors).

Evaluation time: The evaluation time will depend on several factors, such as the availability of evaluators and the time required for the authors to correct the article. Once the comments have been submitted to the author, the author must send the document within two weeks if there are minor corrections. If the corrections involve restructuring the document, the author will have four weeks to submit the corrected article. The average time from article submission to publication is 12 weeks.

4. Access and Reuse Policies

The journal Conectividad provides immediate and free access to its content. This means users may read, download, store, print, search, index, and link to full texts as long as this is done for non-commercial purposes and the original source and authorship are properly cited.
