Taking care of oneself and others during the migratory process is an arduous task faced by migrant nursing professionals who, although they are in a life process that imposes personal challenges, must adjust their professional work in order to take care of otherness. The objective was to develop a reflective analysis of the different ontological reasons for care from the perspective of transcultural nursing. The Ontological Route was qualitative, a documentary review of research published in the last five years on local and international data platforms. Among the results, 1. the concreteness of the essence of care was obtained 2. The perspectives of the care process. 3.- Diversity and universality of cultural care. In conclusion, the nursing profession must make a sharp turn towards transcultural care in the curricular designs that current society so needs and demands, since this is the essence of the profession.
