Lahars of the Cotopaxi volcano, risks in the tourist activity for the Rumiñahui canton

The urban growth of the Rumiñahui canton has gone hand in hand with its tourist development, the potential impact of lahars, are presented as risks that can affect in when an eruption of the Cotopaxi volcano; homes, touristic plant and attraction, even more so when there has been no adequate territorial planning that contemplates an affectation scenario. The follow investigation uses geo-positioning to contextualize the territory of the Canton with a geological and tourist approach, understanding the operation of the volcanic phenomenon in relation to tourist activity, through bibliographical observation and spatial digitization with the help of QGIS software, to obtain the objects exposed in shape file format for their respective analysis, ending with the thematic cartographic development of risks, linking the attractions and the tourist plant with the trajectory of the lahars, and establishing a scenery of affectation. It concludes by defining the affected attractions, as well as the categories and types of attractions affected around the most vulnerable Parishes from lahars. and tourist affected plant.
