Clinical simulation: A tool for professional growth of nursing students

Abstract

Nursing education in recent decades has undergone changes with the incorporation of clinical simulation (CS). The objective was to analyze the professional growth of nursing students through educational practices, self-confidence and satisfaction in clinical simulation. Method quantitative, correlational, descriptive and cross-sectional research. The sample consisted of 92 nursing students. The following instruments were used: Educational Practices Questionnaire (EPQ-Sp) and questionnaire on student satisfaction and self-confidence in learning. Results reported in educational practices active learning 72 (78%) and collaboration 39 (43%)) both categories of agreement. Different ways of learning 44 (49%) undecided/a while high expectations 51 (55%) strongly agreed. 44 (49%) degree of satisfaction and 45 (50%) self-confidence were located in agreement. The correlation was significant (p <0.05) between the variables. Simulation improves confidence, satisfaction and preparation to face the challenges of practice, which contributes to the professional development of the student.
