The article covers the application of tools with psychological foundations in the context of Ecuadorian traffic, specifically land transport, in which a limited psychosensometric evaluation is applied as a requirement for the acquisition of a driving license, which does not guarantee the safety of users of the road network. The study has qualitative characteristics and a phenomenological epistemological basis in which the perception of the study participants about the application of psychological tools in the qualification of applicants for a driving license weighs.
The empirical research is qualitative in nature, with the description of the state of knowledge mediated by the use of an academic-scientific text analysis instrument. Data collection was carried out through a questionnaire with psychology professionals through Google Forms. The data analysis was submitted to the content analysis methodology from the North American perspective. The results reflect the lack of union of criteria and knowledge about traffic psychology, by mental health professionals, who limit themselves to the structure of the psychological test provided by the ANT, demanding the application of suitable and rigorous instruments that guarantee the appropriate behavior of the driver on the road network.
