Proceedings of the First Symposium on Feline Medicine and Introduction to Veterinary Pharmacology 2024

Abstract

The Instituto Superior Tecnológico Superarse, through the School of Veterinary Medicine and the Technology Course in Canine Care, aims to train professionals capable of broadly addressing the needs of pets, thanks to the study in the different areas of Veterinary Medicine, which allows to be a support for the Veterinary doctor. The Symposium on Feline Medicine and Introduction to Veterinary Pharmacology, an event that was held online through the Teams platform from March 25 to 28, 2024, is an event organized with the purpose of relating young proffessionals with the current work scenario in accordance with the requirements of knowledge and experience that are required today in the branch of Veterinary Medicine. Having knowledge based on the preparation received in the classrooms is an added value that every veterinary service provider should have and that everyone should access. Promoting deeper knowledge about the fundamentals of the processes to be applied, as well as their functioning and mode of action in the application of medicine in all its branches, is part of the preparation and requirement to achieve the main objective of medicine, which is maintaining health. Among the animal species that humans have raised as companion animals are felines, whose physiological and behavioral characteristics have declared this species to be one of the most diverse by showing different patterns in reaction to the application of medical treatments and ethological; in addition to requiring greater skills for correct management, breeding and maintenance, allowing updating basic knowledge and knowing relevant information for correct professional development in the branch of Veterinary Medicine whose field of veterinary services grows and expands. The general objective of the event refers to establishing a connection and approach of young professionals to the work environment according to their preparation through in-depth knowledge of the clinical and medical foundations that allow for professional growth.
